What do you do with the updates?

Seems pretty unrealistic to go in the books and change the wording. Yet it doesnt seem realistic to go back and forth between a book and a pdf/printed document to get the entire rule set. What do you do?

Wait for 4.5ed?

In the Wargame world, they have what they call Living Rules, where they incorporate errata, changes and updates into a PDF. Since the rules are generally not terribly long, its an elegant solution.

WotC could do the same thing, although for piracy reasons they won't.

But since they sell PDF versions through authorized online merchants, you think they COULD have Living Rules versions.

Keep it in my head, go through mental gymnastics every time a rule is used to remember if it's been fixed yet, and grit my teeth waiting for the reprint knowing that WotC has found a perfect way to sell the same books twice.

My current plan is to be completely neurotic, convert the books to HTML from the PDF, then add the errata as they make updates. We'll see how long I can keep it up

I copied the errata into a word document, figured out a font that looked similar to the PHB font, printed out, and taped the errata over the offending text. I'm pretty happy with it so far.

That's what I did for the 3 core 3.5 books! It took hours, and I haven't yet tried it for 4E (especially as more and revised errata is sure to appear in the coming months), but it was well worth the effort.

I add the erratta to my pdfs and use them whenever possible instead of the print versions.

Didn't buy 4e.

I decided to wait a six months or a year until they print a corrected version. Probably not practical advice for most people but my group had just started a new 3.5 eberron campaign and decided not to be early adopters.

I made an small 10-paged errata booklet, every page stands for an chapter, with all the information sorted on the page numbers of the book..

I've cut up very small yellow post it's and pasted them next to the headline of errata'd piece.

So if i go around my book, see an rule i need, and it has an yellow dot next to it, i should check the booklet for extra ruling..

And since i made the booklet on the pc, i can just adjust it when new things come out and print an new one..

Also made one for each of my players..
