What do YOU do...

I'm 13... too young to kill a guy... and if I told him to DM he'd love it... and then he'd break MORE rules. Last time he DMed we were granted immortality, brought up a level because we killed a hobgoblin (with 0 class levels) and in another adventure, we were fourth level, and after killing a few dragons (that really should have ended our lives right then and there) we were suddenly ninth level. In the same adventure, he played a sheild guardian that's health was in the thousands by the end of the adventure... Thanks for the help, but if he was DM... *shudder*

In that case you have two options:

1) Lay Down the Law - You are the DM. Make your rules clear, and if he tries to pull some crap, simply tell him 'no.' If he complains, tell him it's your campaign, your rules. If he won't play by the rules, he can pack up and go.

2) Get Out of Dodge - If all else fails, pack up and go. If the DM isn't having fun, it quickly becomes impossible for the players to have fun too. People say the DM's job is to make the players happy, but if the DM doesn't like what the players want, he's not going to do a good job of giving it to them. (Yeesh, that was rambling...) Point is, if you can't get him under control, and he won't leave, you might as well head out and form a new group or just take a break.

It's a bit harsh either way, but there does have to be a sense of command here. Otherwise, it's just a bunch of people playing 'my character is better than yours' and things go downhill fast.

Tell him the goals you want to achieve as a DM. If he did all those things, say that you want a more "Low magic" approach (ie. Core Book Standard :) ) and want to use the rules as they are to reinforce that "feel".

Yeah, you oughta be at least 15 for that. :)

I think you've got the right idea. Reason with him out of the game before taking more extreme measures.
