What do you get them for the 50th?

You might consider a gift of some custom dice. Does your campaign have a theme or the PC's adventuring group an simple line art emblem you could use?

If so - a custom Chessex d6 would do the trick. The D6's tend to show up the custom graphic best.

Might be a little pricier than you wanted - but you got to admit - it's a mighty cool memento.

Keep in mind that whatever you do for session 50, you'll be expected to one-up it for session 100....

And if you're already starting celebrations at 50, what are you gonna do when you hit 500? :)

@bullgrit - 50 sessions, if run weekly, is only a shade over a year's worth of play assuming the occasional missed session for whatever reason. The OP said there was a 3-month gap; so let's say 16 months all in. That's not long at all.

It's long enough that the OP is wanting to celebrate it. And no matter how much effort the Players may have put into the game, the DM has put much more.

Heh, Beer is used to celebrate pretty much everything. With the fine selection of microbrews available in the Yakima Valley, (We've got a number of brewerys and a couple specialty shops devoted to beers) we drink a lot :)

As to the number; it's not a lot in the grand scheme of D&D, but a bit of history.

This group has been gaming with me for the better part of 10 years. For the most part, they've been in the group since I started gaming.

Other than this campaign, the longest run we've had was about 14 sessions. Most of our games run between 8-10 sessions before life or distractions (other games, etc..) get in the way.

So, in that respect, 50 sessions is quite special to us. :) I hope for 100.

Then, free beer?

I don't think the DM should do anything for the players. I bet that in most groups the DM spends the most on books and other game stuff (that most of the group probably use) and also spends the most time on the game.

If anything the players should get the DM something.

While I don't disagree, Olaf, I want to do this. Without a group of players, I'm not a DM. I appreciate that these guys make time out of their week to show up, bring food and dice, and get online to post/blog about the session in recap.

It's my way of saying thank you to these guys. In my group, most everyone splits the bill fairly evenly, actually. Almost every player has their own DDI account; one player, who's also a frequent DM, has a huge set of minis, books, and maps. Everyone shares food and drinks. So, in this regard, I think we're all pretty even.

If they all chose to get me something, or do something special, that'd be cool, but not required.
