What do you think of Stephen R. Donaldson?

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I also liked one of his other series. I forget what it's called but it's closer to traditional fantasy than the Covenant series. It once again deals with a real world person thrown into the fantasy world. The world has alot of mirror magic in it. That's about all I remember about the series though. Maybe somebody else can give us the name of it.

I've always wondered what his 'Gap' series was like. Based on what I've read here so far, I might have to pick it up some time.

I started reading the Covenant Books with the very last, White Gold Wielder, then the first 2 books of the 2nd series, before going to the 1st series. If anything, I think this makes them easier to read, and makes Covenant easier to empathise with. I wonder how many people gave up on Lord Foul's Bane (the 1st book) early in, when Covenant does the bad thing he does?

I read Lord Foul's Bane all the way through. That scene bothered the hell outta me, but it never made me quit reading. The ONE thing that bothered me about the book was the way that Covenant would alternated between insufferable prick and wannabe hero. It aggravated me to no end and I have had little want to read the 2nd book since then.
