D&D 5E What do you want from a lich?

Hello all.

What do you want from a book on lichs?

I am revising and reworking a book on lichs, "Lords of Sorrow," which I first wrote 10 years ago. The new book will feature a range of powers and spells available to lichs, as well as some NPCs which might be plugged into a campaign. Given that it is for 5E, it will all be highly modular and will not treat the lichs as characters.

But I'm not writing the book for myself. So I am asking you a question.

What do you want from a book on lichs?

How to run them in a combat scenario, tactics, minions phylactery, some tricks to make this the challenge it should be, without bumping its stats into unbelievable numbers.

I want to know how many liches it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop.

But seriously, I'd expect insights into their motivations and discussions of their tactics that at least hint at the potential of Vecna and Mellifleur.

This, plus discussion of how to utilize a lich in a campaign. I'd like to see motivations that create interesting dynamics in a campaign, that give me something to do with them other than just have a boss fight. Especially useful would be ideas for integrating the lich into the game as the characters grow in power, so it's not just another encounter when they reach a particular level.

Detailed instructions on how to become one, of course.

And, no, I am NOT going to fall for that "Head of Vecna" trick!
