they take those likely to be rezzed and reduce them to ashes and mix it with a hundred other sets of ashes. If a body part is needed for the spell, good luck finding the right one in that ash pile.

So fun sounding. maybe you should leave the mixed ash like it was someone who was just disintegrated to see if you can get someone to raise up ye liveliest Awfulness.

In my old campaign, they were promptly beheaded and the heads carried in a sack until they could be destroyed (Speak with Dead was not a harmless spell :)). In my new campaign, they are usually left behind after a cursory search.

We've pretty much utilized the spectrum.

We left a big bad in a tunnel. That came back to bite us in the but because he came back as a Death Knight.

We guarded a big bad and then burned his body so that he couldn't come back easily.

When we had a Sphere of Annaihilation, we used that to dispose of bodies.

Once, we (by accident) reincarnated one of our fallen comrades in the body of a big bad. We were trying to bring her back into her own body, but the dead enemy was in the room too and...whoops!

Bodies are pretty good for luring out lurking predators...

Ah yes. I've seen this used to good effect. One of my comrades-in-arms had this idea when dealing with a manticore. Worked like a charm. Kinda frustrated the DM, though. He'd been hoping to see our party harrassed by the manticore for several days, counting on it in fact.

We did, if I remember correctly, dine on manticore steaks that night.
