I like either large, intimidating wolves, or twisted, inhuman beasts.

You see the one, top left, holding the cane? He's a legbreaker for the Mob. He once killed a guy with a hacksaw for not paying up on time. Piece. By. Piece.

So you're saying I shouldn't have my werewolves roll over, lick the adventurers' faces, fetch the stick...?

I actually had a player in one of our games try the last one, years ago - a werewolf appeared in a forest ahead of the party and the guy running the thief/rogue grabbed a branch off the ground and tossed it, yelling, "Go get it, boy, go get it!" as the party ran. Hilarity ensued. Until the werewolf ripped off a couple of faces a few rounds later.
