What does a dragon's voice sound like?

First Post
Ok, so this weekend after 3 months of no role playing, I am finally starting a game (and that is super mega awesome).

The system is dnd and is going to start in a city ruled by a Green Dragon. I have the NPCs, history, city layout and all the other DM crap ready to go, but then I realized that I don't know what the dragon sounds like when it speaks.

Now we all know that when a dragon is in Rip and Tear mode it will go RWAAAAARR!! and sound like something out of Jurassic Park, but what about when it is just having a casual conversation?

So my fellow ENworlders what dose a dragon's indoor voice sound like in your games?

PS: i don't wanna make the dragon sound like Sean Connery ;)

A dragon ruling a city? Likely an older one - older than a normal human lifespan.

To me it would sound like a sage, with a deep mellifluous voice holding an air of authority and certainty. (Perhaps a bit like God in Star Trek V.)

I'm thinking the Great Owl from The Secret of NIMH

I was thinking Aslan from the Narnia movies.

Another aspect to "what a dragon sounds like" is how it speaks in addition to what its voice sounds like.

Does it have a lot to say? Does it use unusual/archaic vocabulary words? Is it usually very terse, only bothering/deigning to speak to underlings as often as we might speak to our own cats and dogs?

Thank you for all the responses. Wondering how to voice my dragon is the motivation for starting this thread, but I am also curious about to how your DMs have made dragons sound in your games.

It seems that most people go with the human voice with extra volume method to voice their dragons.

As for my dragon lord I think i am going to make his indoor voice sound like a heavy whisper with lots of volume. Other then projecting very far his voice sounds almost human, however as he gets excited or angry the humanity of his voice falls away and becomes much more monstrous (using generic dinosaur or Godzilla roars as inspiration).
