What does FLGS stand for?

Rabid:

Do you game at my store? Seriously.

I stopped really hangin with the roleplay groups at my store after one day when a player screamed out "Leeroy Jenkins" in the middle of a minor combat.

I get the reference (sig/other just quit WoW) , but it was used wrong, was very loud, and was the fifth time in the past two hours he'd done that.

"Shop where they're always on the phone and seem to know nothing about their own inventory, or what's being sold in the industry."

I remember, back when Eberron first came out, calling over to see if they had a copy of the campaign setting for sale. They had no idea what I was talking about. :(

But yes, let's blame Amazon for the death of the FLGS instead ...

When your profits are eaten into so badly that you can't pay much more than $5.75 to $6.95 an hour, and you can only hire people part time.. you don't really get the most dedicated people all of the time.

I always heard Fledgling Local Gaming Store. Maybe that's because so many stores opened and closed where I grew up...

I'm sad to hear about bad local stores. Well, I know good ones in Sacramento, CA and Eugene, OR. But the bad ones I've seen are really bad. Like, makes me think about quiting the game I went there to play bad; I feel your pain.

Sacramento has amazing game stores. I lived in Roseville during the late 90's/early 00's and would seriously consider moving back to the Sacramento area just for the gaming alone.
