What games or game systems do you miss playing?

DC Heroes definitely. Combat resolution was a *breeze*. I've picked up Blood of Heroes, but it's just not the same.

I also miss Rolemaster. Combat really sucked because of all the chart lookups, but it held together really well. I finally looked at HARP Lite, and it looks promising.

Bond...James Bond......

Hands down it has to be James Bond by Victory Games. Simply one of the best game systems I have ever used. Easy to learn and adapt, plenty of material, depth, role playing, challenging, and the villians were EVVILLLL, and women gorgeous.

Baffled why no one has picked up this liscence. Hell, I would just port the whole system over as is, as it was simply done and wonderfully balanced. Base on ease factor of the task to be accomplished, you rolled percentile dice for a majority of tasks. Less than ten percent of the needed success number meant you earned an incredibly valuable hero point.

Loved that game. Anybody remember playing it?

Thieves' Guild. The mayhem we caused in The Free City of Haven was legendary. I am in the process of converting what I can from this great city into 3.5 for future use.

I'd gladly have a Mage game, or a Call of Cthulhu. I've got fond memories of the Fist of the North Star RPG as well, though I doubt anyone here knows about it. :)

I'd say the MARVEL SUPER HEROES GAME originally done by TSR.

It had its flaws, but every now and then I consider taking it out and trying it again.

We still play it and it is fun. :)

I only miss playing GURPS Fantasy. Even then I only miss it until I remember how hard it is to make an effective character. Or maybe it was my GM.

Guess I'm luck in that if I say "I really miss X" my husband usually says "Cool! Let's play it!"

Marvel Super Heroes. Almost every day at lunch for 2 years, I played MSH with a few guys in high school. Yeah, the game had flaws, but we had lots of fun playing. I sold all my books in college, though, when I thought I'd never play it again. I wish I had them now, I had just about everything TSR published for the game.

You can get them free in PDF form here:

Gamma World.

D&D was my first exposure to roleplaying, Gamma World was my first exposure to campaign play. The new D20 Sword and Sorcery Gamma World game doesn't capture the same flavor its original design did... that owing a lot to the technological advances we've made which had to be figured into the game background. They also turned Nano-Technology into magic, which is just all sorts of silly. Still, I bought all the books for that game and will be running it after my Forgotten Realms campiagn is over (all the players now have GW D20 PHBs). I'm thinking I'm going to get rid of nanotech however, and looking into a different psionics system. Darwin's World has an interesting feat based psi system...

I really miss Top Secret. It has been over 20 years since I played that. I guess I am just getting nostalgic.
I treated myself to a copy of TS recently so that I could re-experience that nostalgia.

If I had the time I would create a d20 Modern version of Operation: Sprechenhaltestelle.

I miss Boot Hill 2e, but not enough to go back to it after playing Sidewinder: Recoiled - I'd miss the skills and feats too much. I also miss original Traveller - I had a character who made such a fortune as a free trader captain there was no reason for the crew to adventure, which means our GM made sure we saw way more than our fair share of hijackers, pirates, and customs cutters. :\

The world generation and commerce charts gave us some interesting situations in Traveller. Some how we managed to make a fortune selling F-16 fighter jets to farmers on an airless planet...at an outrageous mark up. That said, we never did manage to save up for the High Lightning class ship.
