what happened to the Plots and Places Forum???

It has been combined with the General Forum. Check the announcements at the top of every page.

I think we have a small problem in that the Hypersmurf announcement has drowned out the forum rearragnement announcement. But it's stll under announcements if you click on the link.

that's a shame. now they'll all get lost with threads like "babes of gencon socal 2003".

i didn't actually read the announcement because it had the heading "new moderator" and i didn't really think that would have any of the reorg info. sorry.

No, it's a good thing; P&P was previously suffering badly from neglect and low traffic.

And no apologies necessary! The other announcement was up there for a few days, but not everyone saw it. I'm glad you asked.

Not to second guess anyone BUT I would have thought that the rogues galley would have made a better partner than general? A "People and Places" forum? The high volume and low number of threads per page insure that slow moving threads like those from "Places" will just get lost?

I agree with Eosin. I wish Plots and Places had been folded into Rogue's Gallery.

After all, DMs need character ideas as well as plot ideas, right?

It was an option we considered. Unfortunately, Rogue's Gallery is a low volume forum that is used primarily for "character storage." In order for P&P to work, people would actually have to go there - and while RG worked thematically, it didn't give the volume that people needed to get ideas.

I agree, General isn't a perfect solution, but it seemed like the best choice.

the the thread topics that used to go into plots & places were slow moving and understandably so. that was the nature of the threads there, they developed with alot more thought than most threads. the problem now is that i don't see anyone posting threads of that nature in the general forum, as they will get lost quickly as Eosin said. the nature of the General forum is a fast paced environment, and i don't know that most people look past the first page. i know i don't.

maybe Plots & Places should have been renamed "DM's Corner: Plots, Places, Characters, NPCs, and general DMery" or somesuch, and put in the main cluster of forums at the top, in place of the Rogues Gallery.

i would bet it would get much more traffic with its spot, as well as it's wider spectrum of content.

I saw it as a good thing myself, because you're more likely to get more than three or four people contributing to a thread. In addition, there was a LOT of "plots and places" going on in General anyway, just under different headers.

If it hasn't worked out, we'll discuss it again. But I'm willing to give it a shot myself. I've two campaigns coming up after Christmas, and I will definitely be wanting help on them.
