What happened to Tim Drake?

Speaking of Teen Titans (and blatantly hijacking your thread):

I wonder what will happen to Beast Boy/Changeling's history (as sorta "mascot" of the Doom Patrol), now that the Doom Patrol has been ret-conned back into the DC universe as being a new team (and the old team apparently having never existed)? [I will save my grumbles about negating the old history of the Doom Patrol, as maybe that is merely a sign of my age].

To follow up on my post above about Johns' tendency to "pay attention" to events in the DCU around his characters- he is addressing this in an upcoming issue of Teen Titans (it may be the one that just came out yesterday, actually- I won't get my copy till the end of the month, though.)

From what I understand, it's not so much a "direct" addressing of the issue as it is supposed to be a general discussion of his origin, but not including the Doom Patrol. Still, it's cool that he is doing it- rather than simply ignoring it, as many people have a tendency to do. And he has a pretty good track record for sorting things out- he managed to make sense of Hawkman's messed up continuity of all things!

Still, sucks about DP. I actually liked the recent series about them... Grr, argh!

Waitasec!

They're not only disregarding years of Doom Patrol history (one of the first Silver Age groups, along with the Challengers of the Unknown), but also erasing the amazing Grant Morrison run over at Vertigo?

The interesting thing is that Identity Crisis must occur in the future, then, at least a little ways, since Tim and his Dad have apparently reconciled and he's wearing the costume again.

Glee!

Actually, from what I understand, this is more the result of miscommunication between titles. Evidently no one told Brad Meltzer that Jack Drake would confront Tim and Tim would abandon the costume in the same issue- he thought it would take place over a couple of issues, and IC is supposed to fit in between those (non-existent) issues.

Hopefully they'll try and fix this, but from what I've been able to discern, that's how things currently stand.

(Maybe Geoff Johns will fix this one, too. :) )

John Byrne.

Oh, dear God...

Slightly change of topic:

One of the coolest things in the current Teen Titans is that Mike McKone (Justice League Antarctica!!!) draws Superboy as a 16-year old Superman, not some scrawny kid (young Clark Kent had quite the phisique back in Byrne's fenomenal Man of Steel series).

Plus Geoff Johns finally gave Superboy/Kon-El a secret identity! Connor Kent? Yay!
