What happens when an elf wildshapes?

Unfortunately, everything they've said to 'clarify' polymorph & wild shape in 3.5 so far has only served to further confound the issue. In addition to the aforementioned 'you lose racial bonuses except when we feel like saying you don't' bit, consider the recent Ask the Sage response (now in the official FAQ) which claims that there is 'no reason given in the rules' for someone not to take a templated form. Um... except that there is, in the line in alter self (from which all higher level shape-shifting spells derive) where it says you cannot take a templated form.

*sigh*

how my dm handled it i think was best. It doesent favor humans becuse all thier abilites stay with wildshape.

My dm has made elves able to see secret doors in wildshape. Thier bonuses to spot and whatnot become cercumstance bonuses (only in wildshape) and they retain thier low light vision as you dont gain vision types with normal wildshape

Playing like this balances out the diffrent core races and wildshapes. things like wings would howver go away in wildshape, becuse unlike most of the elves bonuses, its very clear that its based off the physical form, unlike elves whare its ambiguis.

So does this mean that an elvish druid that wildshapes into an animal form loses their +2 racial bonus to spot and listen, their low light vision, the +2 bonus vs enchantments, and their ability to find secret doors?
Which really upsets me (and makes little sense) that an elf with low-light vision loses that when wildshaped, even though the new form might also normally have low-light vision!

Of note - I believe humans lose their bonus feat while wild shaped. Not that I'd run it that way, but I think that's the RAW.
Letter of the law, they should lose it because it is a bonus feat, but unlike all other racial bonus feats it is just another feat slot rather than a specific feat. So how do you know which feat to lose?
