First off if the idea of 5th edition scares you then please stay away from this thread.

I am a Wizards paying customer and I want radical changes to the point where a new edition is needed. I actually want the current edition canned and a new one started. I have put together evidence and I believe this new edition is coming and it has me excited. I've grown tired of the current 4th edition and I want something that is going to have me excited about new products that are coming.

I personally know lots of people that are tired of Essentials and are tired of the new direction going forward. I'm ready for 5th edition and I am going to talk about just what I want from the next edition.

I want a classless system that allows me to create and customize my character from the ground up. I want the skill system overhauled because right now I feel it's terrible. It gets to the point that everyone together has all the skills taken care of, a few quick rolls and we are on our way. It feels like a minor speed bump instead of a challenge. I'm getting a bit tired of the chess like game that we have now. Using a grid is fine, but the pushing, pulling, sliding and teleporting is getting a little boring.

The game has turned into a drag fest and usually bu level 8 I am ready to make another character and start over. There is nothing in higher levels that I look forward to and so I really don't want to continue.

I've been reading a good bit of Mearls' articles and I'm thinking he wants to take D&D back to a more retro and yet updated game. I'm sorry but his L&L articles are more than just taking a trip to the past, they are insights into what is coming in the next edition.

Mearls has been talking about eliminating certain aspects of the game to make it more simple and I really hope that 5th edition isn't going to be more simple. There are ways to make the simple and complex at the same time. They tried this with Essentials and it failed, apparently the balance wasn't right. I believe 4th edition has done it's damage to the point where a new edition is the only thing that's going to bring the game back to where Wizards wants it.

When a moderator closes a thread on a topic, unless we say otherwise at the time, the topic is supposed to stay closed for a while. Please don't instantly open a new one with a slightly different slant without at least talking to moderator, please.

And, by the way, the 4e forum is not the place to go to post a thread that basically says, "I want 4e to go away". A bit of constructive criticism is nice, but really, this thread isn't about 4e, and wouldn't belong here.
