What if more things in life were "collectible"...?

The Shaman

First Post
Recent discussions about the Axis and Allies minis game and a new edition of Dungeons and Dragons got me thinking about the whole "collectible" thing - what if we took this same principle and extended it to other aspects of our lives...

A trip to the market...

Wife: "How many bags did you buy?"
Husband: "Two. Did we get milk this time?"
Wife: (rummages through bags) "Yes!"
Husband: "Two-percent?"
Wife: "Uh, no, non-fat."
Husband: (sighs) "What about cookies?"
Wife: (more rummaging) "Saltines. And dog biscuits."
Husband: "Who do we know who has a dog? Maybe we can trade for something."

A trip to the sporting goods store...

Kid 1: "I got a new sports booster bag!"
Kid 2: "Cool! Whajaget?"
Kid 1: (rummages through duffle) "Another baseball...a hockey puck...some surfboard wax...a mouthguard...a pair of swim goggles...and a catcher's mitt! Wanna play baseball?"
Kid 2: "But we don't have a bat."
Kid 1: "Yeah...I wish that wasn't a rare."

Now I know you can do better than these...

Somehow it brings a shudder when I think of desparately digging through a case full of Blatz, Schlitz and PBR in search of a Guiness or Sam Adams.

Or trying to assemble a computer operating system like Windows through collectible system file packs - "NTLDR not found, and is a rare. Good luck! Collect all 80 gazillion!"
