In the same vein:

Sometimes it is better to cast a twinned, sonically substituted empowered fireball than to curse the darkness - Me

I too love the Hemingway quote mentioned by howandwhy99.

I also like the one currently in my .sig: "I like adventures where I go to find somebody who is mean and then you have to poke them with a poking stick." Samantha the Red, daughter of Rel

From a thread discussing all the d20 and system-bashing in general back in the day:

"The Internet seems to be the haven for people who want to play the My Dinner with Andre roleplaying meta-experience." - 2WS-Steve

Brilliant then. Brilliant now. :)

I actually had Shilsen's quote as my .sig for a while, for that matter. :)

In fact, I keep a file (at work, not with me currently) of memorable quotes I've found both here and on other forums. I'll post a few of these tomorrow, assuming this thread is handy then.

One that stands out right now is still Arcady's quote:

"There at some players whom I'm surprised had characters that 'made it to first level.' " :) - referring to the lack of tactics among some players he has seen

Some other pieces of ENWorld Wisdom:
Die Kluge: My daughter is just getting into her terrible twos. They call it that for a reason, apparently.
Francisca: Yup. You spend the first 2 years teaching them to walk and talk, then the next 16 telling them to sit down and shut up. :)

Rel: My theory is that MOST people in life have SOMETHING going for them. Categorizing this broadly, they are attractive, competent or pleasant. I've met many people who are at least two and a few who are all three. I very rarely meet a person who is ugly, incompetent and rude. When I do, I avoid that person.

Because the gods obviously hate them.

WotC forums said:
Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity.
- Nick Diamos

Staffan: "Give a man a fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he's warm for the rest of his life." -- Terry Pratchett, “Jingo”

And finally:

Rhee, martial artist, to the renegade cop: "You should not use guns. They are a crutch!"
Danvers, Renegade Cop while snapping in two fresh clips: "Then call me a cripple!"

I like to think I've learned something from each of these. :)

You forgot 'At the darkness.' It's 'I cast Magic Missile at the darkness.' And, how, exactly, does this inspire anybody?

You know, I've seen lots of good quotes on his board, but I can't for the life of me think of any.

Here's one that I love from Wulf Ratbane. I'm paraphrasing since I can't find the original quote.

"If you're a paladin, and you find yourself fighting against a foe obviously weaker than you, think 'What would Superman do?'

On the other hand, if you're fighting a foe obviously stronger than you, go with 'What would Batman do?'"
