Message: <blockquote data-quote="Alzrius" data-source="post: 9651047" data-attributes="member: 8461">I recently purchased Far Distant Future Publishing's <a href="https://legacy.drivethrurpg.com/product/516450/Awesome-Ancestries-Species-of-Horror?affiliate_id=820" target="_blank">Awesome Ancestries: Species of Horror</a> (affiliate link), which was the last of their "Awesome Ancestries" products that I didn't have.Normally, this would be where I talk about the product in question, but instead I'm going to mention some stuff about Bryan Mangum's one-man company as a whole. I've mentioned before that I've been very impressed with how much they've released, how quickly they've released it, and the quality of their work. To that end, I'll throw out some quick stats that I think are rather remarkable:<ul> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">In the course of a single calendar year, they've put out sixty-eight products, debuting with Awesome Ancestries: Living Planet Avatar on April 25th, 2024, and their most recent being Awesome Ancestries: Two-to-One, Vol. 5 - Surki on April 18th, 2025.</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">Of those sixty-eight items, sixty are tagged as being for Pathfinder 1E. Of the remainder, most are system-agnostic, but there's been at least one for D&D 5E and one for Shadowdark.</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">All of these products use images and artwork from the public domain, with the exception of a small number where the illustrations are (based on the credits) done by Mangum himself.</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">The Awesome Ancestries titles make up nearly half of FDFP's offerings, comprising thirty-one products to date. By my count, these offer an astonishing two hundred forty-seven PC races for PF1!</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">Of these, the bulk are conversions from other Paizo Publishing RPGs. The first nine products of the Awesome Ancestries: Galactic Species line are all converted from Starfinder 1E, with a grand total of one hundred fourteen PC races! Similarly, all five volumes of the Awesome Ancestries: Two-to-One line convert PC races from PF2, with seventeen races total.</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">A small number of converted races (I don't have an exact number, but I'd estimate it to be around a dozen or so) already have PC racial information in Paizo's PF1 product library; FDFP's conversions are always slightly different, and to their credit, they call out when they're presenting a race that already has racial rules elsewhere (listing their own conversion as an alternative).</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">They've also converted a substantial number of Starfinder classes, three sourcebooks of Starfinder technology, vehicles, and starships, and at least one book of SF monsters.</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">A large number of races that are "new" are actually PF1 presentations of races from classic science fiction, albeit with the names changed for legal reasons. But it's still easy to spot ewoks, hutts, Vulcans, draags, and...jigglypuffs...among many, many others.</li> </ul>For what it's worth, I'm not an associate of this author or his company, and I'm not being compensated to shill for him. I'm mostly just amazed at his incredible output for my TTRPG of choice, and think that deserves being celebrated.</blockquote>
