What is Desert of Desolation and what to expect for figures?

Umber Hulk is cool and welcomed even though I got a bunch already (luck of the draw) The Drow Priestess (drow in general) are very much over used. I would like to see some different motiffs also. ah well

Mummy was expected. Female Drider..... maybe I won't be usung the Aspect of Lolth as a fill in too much longer. The other guy sounds like the new golem they have in MMV made of magma. If done right that should be an awesome looking figure.

Is anyone else worried about the lack of a Dragon on a box cover? I hope we have dragons in this set.

I'd expect a medium Blue Dragon and perhaps a Sand Dragon from Sandstorm.

Personally, I want to see several sphinx miniatures, maybe even up to one for each alignment, a Deadborn Vulture from MMV, a common/uncommon Mummy, and the Skull Lord(and perhaps its associated undead) from MMV. The three Xern from MMIV would be cool too, but they're not as in-theme as the others.

Nah, WotC won't stop giving us dragons until we are buried in them. After all, we only have 29 of the things now.

Dragons are way too popular for them not to give us more of them. Plus, there's still plenty of dragons to do, or redo. Weren't there yellow or brown dragons living in the desert? And then there's Jam Gem Dragons!

And not a single Dungeon! It's D&D, not just &D! We even heat an & (well, a Tr&).

I hope the mummy is a common. I only have the one rare now.
Course by the time this set comes out I will have finished my "The Mummy" campaign :(

Could work. The ones we have so far are rare, but they don't have to be. Not at all. I could see a mummy as common - it's basically a one-colour figure. Maybe some red dots for the eyes.

Power level (for skirmish) doesn't seem to be that much of a concern lately, either. Plus, the old mummy is awfully overcosted - for the same point cost, you can get, for example, the Zakya Rakshasa, which is better in almost every way - faster, stronger, more HP (though it's not fearless), better AC, and so on. They could do that figure for like 25 points, which would be well within the range of common figures.

So the only thing that stands between a mummy being common is greed ;)

I am fairly sure the Umber Hulk will be Rare due to size, complexity and desire to have by people. The Drow I am guessing Uncommon.

A lot of rumors of Med Blue Dragons and Gelious Cubes. Time will tell.

And really stretching into the future, Next summer could be the next Huge Set.

If you don't mind painting, Reaper has mummy minis cheaper than the Ebay WotC rare mummies. And hopefully they may end up in the pre-painted plastic line.

Thanks,
Rich

They did correct some of the rarity mistakes they made in the first couple of sets - the new troll was uncommon, the many dire animals were uncommon, and so on. But they seemed to have abandoned that notion, since the new displacer beast was rare as well. I guess you're right with this.

The Drow I am guessing Uncommon.

Probable. I wouldn't mind another common drow, either. Night Below should have had one or two more drow. Maybe they all got bumped.

I think the Blue is quite probable. Maybe even uncommon.

I'm not so sure about the Cube. I hear all the time how they might not be able to put it into boosters. Too complex to create properly as a figure that is put into the boosters.

I can almost guarantee you that there will be at least 1 Dragon in every D&D minis set that they release. The simple reason for this is that Dragons sell. WotC will keep making more Dragons so long as people keep demanding them.

As for the Gelatinous Cube, I’m sure I remember Stephen Schubert (the guy in charge of the WotC minis line) stating that the GC won’t be in the DoD set.
