What is Ptolus anyway?

Concering the price discussion. Have you guys ever bought scientific literature? The prices are comparable to Ptolus but the books usually don't have so nice illustrations ;).

Please don't remind me... that's where my christmas and birthday money goes. Where in germany are you?

Too much information :)

Hmm, okay, damn you, damn you all to hell :] :] :] :] :] :]

Okay, I feel better. :) ;) :cool:

Well, it sounds like a good product, and I am not talking about the fancy embossed cover or the ribbons. It sounds like it would come in handy and it also sounds like each chapter in pdf format would run $6 a chapter and that would be over $200 for all 32 chapters. So, I am getting closer to springing for it, but I might have to have the wife order it for me. If I order it and hate it, I would be very upset that I spent such money on it :)

How many pages is Ptolus?

137 pages $10 for second set of districts chapters http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=11977&affiliate_id=17596

147 pages $10 for first set of districts chapters http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/catal...h=49_554&products_id=11976&affiliate_id=17596

55 pages $6 for fist set of organizations chapters http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/catal...h=49_554&products_id=11975&affiliate_id=17596

57 pages $6 for world chapters http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/catal...h=49_554&products_id=11974&affiliate_id=17596

So $32 for 396 pages of pdfs.

Extrapolating from that, if Ptolus is 800 pages then it will cost around $64 to get everything in pdf. To cost $200 at the same page ratios Ptolus would have to be over 2,400 pages long.

Credit should also go to Sue Cook, who has far more of a hand than she lets on in producing the exquisite look (and in this case feel) of Malhavoc products, as well as editing and all sorts of behind the scenes work.

@Infernal Teddy
I'm from Hesse, somewhere between Frankfurt and Wiesbaden.

The "big book" arrived today and I have to admit that I'm impressed. The book is very well done and the Artwork wonderful. So far I have read only bits here and there, but what I've seen so far was quite interesting. I suppose next I take a look into the cosmology chapter to see what I have to twek to fit Ptolus in my campaign world :).

Thanks for the information. My friendly (not so) local games store was happy when I ordered it form them online, my bank account wont't be so happy but... nevermind :D.

'Welcome, man! :D Encyclopedia volumes can be compared with Ptolus too. Really, someone complaining about the price of Ptolus 1/ visibly isn't a huge book consumer and 2/ hasn't read the actual Ptolus tome's content.
