What is "railroading" to you (as a player)?

That might be what you think, and for what it's worth I agree with you, but that doesn't change anything about how 'people' react to having all their goodies stolen in-game. Or to being captured. Or even to being mind-controlled in some cases. It's a thing.
I know it's a thing, and I try to respect it when I run games. But it really bothers me sometimes. Feels inauthentic.

That's down to style and preference. I don't yuck other people's yum for no reason. I do levy consequences in my own games that might include all of those things, but I also try to vet my players and make sure we're all on the same page.

Yeah, but it's still irritating to me. To my mind, sometimes PCs die, and then you make another one. While they're there you care about them, but I just don't see why you can't accept the occasional bad thing happening to your PC. It's not you.

No its not on them, its on the GM, and thats why they hate the GM for it and not themselves.

Some people like certain things, and thats something to accept and not be irrated about it and try to change.
Its quite normal players like their characters. Its not like GMs like it if their handcrafted worlds, get destroyed by players either, especially after a low number of sessions.

I'm sorry. You are the player. You make the decisions. Sometimes those decisions get you ganked. Don't blame the GM for that shizz.

So long as the players stay within the lines of their PCs, I don't care if they run roughshod over the setting. Once play begins, that's what it's there for. And there's no value to telling someone not to be irritated by something that irritates them.

Seems to me, based on this and previous comments, that you have a grudge against GMs. And that's fine, but it's just opinion, the same way that mine are.

The GM literally are god in many RPGs. If something happens to a player character its on the GM. If a GM can randomly steal players spell components, they can also randomly steal enemies weapons.

There are rare cases when its on the player, like when they decide to jump a cliff or something as clearly suicidal.

Difference is that this thread specifically asks for feedback from players, not GMs.
