It will always be Wimpy, a chain so beloved in the UK it has resisted being killed off.

While it still sells burgers it is also the home of the pork bender.
I specifically sought out a Wimpys when I was backpacking in the the UK in the 90s because of its cultural icon status, and because I love a good burger. It was certainly an experience.

We got a Sonic, Popeyes and Chik-Fila here a few years back and people lost their minds, If I'm not mistaken there were two murders in the drive thru of Chick-Fila the opening week over road-chick-fila-rage incidents. Haven't bothered going to any of them. Although Ruby Tuesdays had a good deep fried breaded chicken breast sandwich when I went shortly before the pandemic broke out.

Popeyes is good.

Glad someone (@Greg K ) mentioned my hometown burger joint, The Habit. They went international a while ago (locations in Dubai!). Although typically, like 5 guys, they don't have drive through in my experience. My son played little league with one of the founders kids... Why they didn't sponsor our end of season dinner I'll never know...

I live in California, and Five Guys is better than InO. Habit is better than both, imo - maybe due to local oversight?

Panda doesn't have a drive through either typically, due to the nature of walking down the line and choosing your thing. Subway same thing.

It's kind of hard to compare Pandas to a burger joint to a taco place to a fried fish place to a chicken place and then call it the "Best".

My fave is probably El Pollo Loco, since you can get identfiable pieces of a real animal. Guess I'll go vote for that

Fast food restaurants made it ABUNDANTLY clear to me that ownership, management and personnel ABSOLUTELY make a difference in the finished product.

I live between 2 Popeye’s locations, one between my father’s office and the house and another about an 10-15 minute drive North of our house on the same street. They’re owned by different franchisees.

And we’ve almost completely stopped using the more convenient location. We’ve had repeated issues with food quality and incorrect orders from there, and we got tired of “manager apology meals”. (At least one of which- predictably- had incorrect food.)

FWIW, we just found a 3rd FF fried chicken sandwich to choose from. Our family’s fave is still the Chick-Fil-A original, with Popeye’s being a close second.

But we just tried Golden Chick last week, and their sandwich is a definite contender, nipping at the heels of the #2 position.

I have a KFC about 5 mins away from me last 2 times I've been there they have gotten 100% of my order wrong, I emailed them and got my money back.
