Just curious to see what everyone's favorite class to play is and why. This ought to bring up some interesting facets to the classes that some people may not have thought of before.

Blackguard. It allows a sorrowful backstory, and he can smite the paladin -- turnabout and all that.

However, I'm the DM, so my experience is... biased.

That isn't a basic class but a prestige class. Doesn't count.

only played a psychic warrior once, but it was very cool ... I had fun being a jedi-like dwarf ... right and I used deep impact and crit'd with my dwarven waraxe!

I like Sorcerers. All the spellslinging with none of the daily spell list preparation. There is something to be said for being able to chat with the others at the table while the wizards and clerics have to take the time to jot out spells each day.

Cleric.

A sense of faith, devotion and virtue - even if of an evil alignment - all have an appeal to me. The cleric comes the most easily-loaded with purpose, other than perhaps for the paladin, who comes in as my second pick, anyway. A lot of what I like about the cleric could be done with other classes, but they're generally the best suited for striving towards an ideal.

I also dig Domains. A little bit more customization, a little bit more flavor.

Sorcerer. First class I played. Mostly for the flavor text. I, like alot of others, feel like the mechanics need a little work.

Although my obsession with constructs makes me also lean to the Wizard.

Cleric. Ever since 1st edition, Clerics have always been my favorite.

Why? Because I like the sense of being a character with absolute faith and purpose. It's not conventional "faith" but a different kind of trust, and the power to back up the claims that you make. There's just something cool to me about pulling out a holy symbol, yelling at the undead, and just watching them fall apart from the pure power of your god. :)

Runner-up would have to be Druids, followed by Psions and Wizards. (I'm a cerebral kind of guy).
