Psion

Where's the Psion love? For me its always been about the philosophical difference between magic(arcane or divine) and psionics. All mages have to draw and shape energy from the universe, from without himself, while the psionicist shapes the energy and power of his own will. The psion need not ask permission from a divine god or search for hidden knowledge lost in the world, the Psion need only remember the creed "know thyself" and he shall shape the world thru his will alone.

Wizard. Love to try to use spells creatively to solve problems. Love the mystique associated with spellcasters (Any game I come across the first thing I do is look to see if there is some sort of mage class).

Paladin all the way, because my favorite fantasy archetype has always been a holy and righteous knight who smites evil. Clerics can fit that bill as well (which is why they're my 2nd favorite class), but they too often tend to lack the sheer exemplary mystique and flavor that the Paladin has in spades.

Technically it has to be fighter because I've created more of them than any other class. But truthfully it would be inaccurate to say they're my favorite class. I don't really have a favorite. I've run just about every sort of class and race with the notable exception of gnomes. It's not that I don't like gnomes, it's just that I don't care about them - at all. A very close second is rogue characters because I've had a lot of those as well.

If there's anything like a "favorite" class it would have to be monks. I kind of have a soft spot for them even if I've only run a meager few over the years. I've spent more time as a DM tinkering and tweaking monks than any other class because more than any other class I want them to be COOL. I don't know why.

Edit: addendum. I think what I really favor is a swashbuckling type. My most memorable characters have always had a noticeable swashbuckling attitude. Dycron was a fighter - and actually used the old 2E swashbuckler kit. Once he got those boots of striding and springing he almost never spent more than a couple of rounds in the front line - he leapt over it into the backfield. Of course he frequently was found in the backfield unconcious and bleeding but he was ALL style and flash. He wouldn't know how to do things any other way. He used arquebus's not because they were effective weapons (they sucked!) but because they were loud, flashy, and impressive. Blackjack was a rogue with a few levels of fighter and also had a tendency towards Errol Flynn no matter how mysterious and moody I tried to make him. Baron Fyzo was DEFINITELY a swashbuckler. A halfling and pure rogue, but brass balls the size of church bells and a reckless attitude that earned the respect of the party paladin. When the two of them fought side by side to the death against a cave full of deadly spiders they became inseperable and each acquired the better personality traits of the other. Getting a paladin in full plate to be a little less straight-laced and methodical is always a good thing.

Barbarian (right now). I like intense people with strong opinions and a belligerent attitude for RPing. And if the doo-doo hits fan, screw it, whack 'em all! ;)

Tie between Fighter and Rogue, that often leads to Fighter/Rogues. I love classes that let me customize my character's abilities according to what I feel they should have. I also love to play slightly-less-then-honorable old soldier types, such as seen in Black Company or the Gardens of the Moon, and these classes together, or alone, are best to play that kind of character.

Rogue, followed very closely by fighter. I think they are the most interpretive class.

Take two human rogues or human fighters and even with just the core books you can end up with 4 very different charcters.

Pyschic Warriors are just plain sweet - as are Monks allowed to use Psionic Feats

Druids and Clerics are cool too oh and bards and rangers and rogues

um my least favourite is Wizard (hate them) all the rest I like

My favourite character however is a Gnome Scorcerer/Rogue/Ranger

Picked Wiz0rd.

I like them the most. Lots of flavor and ways to play them. Cleric comes in a close 2nd though. I like Clerics a lot for the same reason.
