What is your Gaming Music

When I ran "The Whispering Cairn" as a one-shot I put on the soundtrack of the PC game Myst III.

One of my GMs loves to use the Conan the Barbarian soundtrack. Another GM has a big collection of movie soundtracks; for fantasy he's usually got LOTR, Thirteenth Warrior, and the D&D movie soundtrack running; and for superheroes he runs X-Men and Batman. I also play with a GM who's got a real fondness for Pirates of the Caribbean, even though we're not playing a nautical campaign.

Well, so far I've used the music from World of Warcraft, Sharn - City of Towers, Final Fantasy X and Neverwinter Nights. I prefer instrumental music, because I think lyrics would distract the players.

EDIT: There's nothing like Final Fantasy battle themes for encounters ;)

Soundtracks
The Mists of Avalon
Carnivale
Fable (yes, the XBox videogame)
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Pirates of the Caribbean
Gladiator
Dragonheart
Stargate (the motion picture)
Conan the Barbarian
Conan the Distroyer

Manowar first and foremost. Playing 'Warriors of the World' from their last album at the start of a game really gets the blood pumping :)

Other than that, the Lord of the Rings soundtrack, Midnight Sydnicate's album, and the Thirteenth Warrior soundtrack.

Soundtracks. Lots of soundtracks. Especially Final Fantasy, but also plenty of excerpts from Star Wars, Indiana Jones, LoTR, Godzilla movies, whatever I have on hand that sounds stirring. Most of the time I don't have a constantly running soundtrack - I put on the music specifically for a certain scene, or have a loop that plays during battles.

Demiurge out.

I use music alot when I DM. If nothing else for the same reasons it's nice at parties - it breaks the ice and avoids uncomfortable silences.

Apart from what has already been said, I usually recommend the german medieval rock band Corvus Corax.
It's a good mix between medieval music and rock, just like D&D! ;)

I usually dn't use music. But, with tomorrow's Firefly game being Halloween, I wanted to set the scene a little with some slightly spooky music and a good amount of fighty music. So, I quickly threw together a compilation of stuff from the Serenity soundtrack and the Angel soundtrack. Mixed in a couple of sound effects for good measure. I'll stick it in on random tomorrow and just let it play until my players beg for it to be turned off.
