We all have the races we don't like to play (mine is gnome's) but is there one that just gets your goat? One that, if someone at the table says they're gonna play one, you have to make a concious effort not to bite your own tongue and choke on your own blood?

Personally I hate elves

I HATE ELVES - a pack of poncy pansy treehugging girlsblouses with bags under their eyes from their terminal insomnia

(come on gnomes of the Worlds unite and give the Bignobs whatfor!!)

Guess I'm not the only one who doesn't like to play Gnomes. But I didn't expect Elves to be up there as much... And it looks like everyone love Dwarves and Humans... Hmmm....

Having spent far too much time on a 3e MUSH, my vote goes to both gnomes and ken-errr-halflings.

I blame Dragonlance. It seems like now everyone that plays a member of either of those races has to play them like the Dragonlance versions: idiotic kleptomaniacs in the case of halflings, and even more idiotic mad scientists inthe case of gnomes.

Oh, and because they're short, players think they have to act like annoying little kids.

I long for the days of the hobbitlike 1e halfling. I'd even settle for seeing halflings played like the gypsy wanderers of default 3e. And if I never see another gnomish inventor it will be too soon - give me long-nosed, jewel-loving, hill-dwelling civilized people instead of an entire race of madcap misfits, thankyouverymuch.

Gnomes just hurt me...no logic to this really I just don't like them. A girl in my gaming group plays one and everytime she makes a hide roll I picture her standing really still and acting like lawn ornament.

We have a Gnome Transmuter in our campaign who plays him very well. He never plays him "Kender-ish." But I have played with others who have.
