I'm very fond of my AD&D 1E DMG (with the revised cover). I carefully used crayons/colored pencils to colorize the pictures and it is beautiful. (Sadly, it split a couple years ago so I have it in storage and an uncolored copy on the quick-access shelf).

But my most prized is probably the AD&D Coloring book from 1979. It has an interesting story, the art is wonderful pen-and-ink that wouldn't look out of place in D&D rulebooks, and it has a game in it to boot. Not only is it great, it brings back wonderful memories of the hours of tromping through the flea market known as The Red Barn, hunting for toys, video games and the strange and unusual back in the 70s/80s.

My Deities and Demigods, first edition, with all the stuff that later had to be removed for IP reasons. It's in terrible condition but that's only because it was so loved.
Yeah, this is probably it for me too. When I got it, both versions were available in stores - the one with the licensed IP and the one without. I wasn’t able to drive yet, so my main supplier was my mother. I gave her very specific instructions on which one to get and how to check it. In the end, I have no idea if the first one she found was the right version or if she had to go to more extensive effort, but I was and remain grateful that she fostered my hobby as much as she did. But then, she never was one to fall for Satanic panics. Ban a book and she was more likely to buy it.

Its funny, I thought my mother was the same way but I found out this year she actually had big reservations about D&D when I was a kid that I did not find out about for over forty years.

As a kid I was big into mythology and medieval stuff and my dyslexic younger brother followed in my footsteps, and friends of mine were into D&D and I played a game at some friends and was hooked and my brother showed an interest. So she and my dad got me B/X and AD&D stuff as it was something he was interested in and would actually read to play in the games with me. Her interest in getting him to read was stronger than her reservations and since it worked it became go to birthday and Christmas present type stuff from then on.

Later on their view was we were hanging out with friends in our attics and basements for hours as teenagers and not drinking and getting into trouble so big wins and continued support of our hobby from them.
