While 10 gets only 1 vote?

I KNEW there was anti-Shannara bias on the ENBoard ...

Now that's not really fair, Edena... You asked for our opinion, and we gave it to you. To say we are "biased" simply because we (as a board) have a less than sterling opinion of something isn't really the case.

I used to love this series. I have the first 7 books all in great condition/harbound. Then about six months, I picked it up he Voyage of the Jerle Shannara: Ilse Witch, but wanted to get backj into the series by reading it from the beginiing again. I read them but the thrill was gone. I don't know what changed so much, but they were actually hard to get through.

However, I still have strong positive memories about them and the characters from so many years ago.

I liked the first two series of the Shannara series, this last one really stunk. I will admnit that the first book had a strong similarities to Tolkien, but while I loved Tolkien's story, i wasnot a big fan of his writing style. Because of this, I enjoyed the Sword of Shannara very much. I think these books are great introductions into the genre.

Whats the point of the points? It doesn't seem to do anything... I mean, on your scale, even if every single vote had been for "They are the among the worst of all writing", it wouldn't have counted for any points, but 1 vote for the legendary one counts for 10?

Doesn't seem to have a real use.

It's simple.
Just a matter of finding the average.

If every vote had been a 0, then the total points would have been 0.
And 0 divided by 47 is 0.

So, 0 would have been the average!

A 10, counts for 10 points. If everyone had voted a 10, that would have been 470 points.
470 points, divided by 47, is 10.
An average of ... 10.

I recall liking the first three Shannara books. Later parts felt somewhat worn and failed to impress me.

Shannara books are to me something easy to read, easy to forget. When I re-read them, I probably make some opinion for a day. I voted 5.

DaDa, bye then.

Okay, I can't vote. Stupid errors...

I'll have to say somewhere around 3, though. I was bored stiff by Shannara. I thought the characters were uninteresting and the plot uninspired.

I couldn't finish the first book, because it just didn't hold my interest in the slightest.
