What kinda gamer are you?

I was tempted to say I'm in the middle until I read Umbran's post. After a bit of thought, I believe I'm a Storyteller or Actor, depending on which side of the screen I'm on. I'd rather be involved in a session that was all moral/ethical dilemas than all combat or problem solving.

After a bit more thought, I'm of the opinion that I'm really a Storyteller because, even as a player, it's the whole thing coming together that really tickles me.

Storyteller here, no doubt about it.

Oddly enough, what they described as a Thinker is what I'd call a Power Gamer, not the characterization they used.

I would probably fall into the "Thinker" category, though somewhere closer to the "Storyteller/Strategic" border.

If "Power Gamer" is defined by preference towards combat situations, then the entire positive Y quadrant is defined such; however, the difference I see is that the "Thinker" has a predilection towards interesting combat or challenge situations (battles in hostile environments, puzzles that challenge the player instead of the Character, etc.) whereas the Power Gamer tends more toward attaining advantage in immediate situations. The Thinker would (IMO) prefer a prestige class or set of feats that grant earthly political power or influence long-range events; the power gamer would prefer abilities that immediately pay off (cohorts, bonuses to combat, etc.)

Now, alternately, "Thinker" and "Power Gamer" could be euphamisms for "Power Gamer" and "Munchkin" respectively, but then again I've never liked that term... :)

Definitely story-teller, and I generally prefer to be the DM.
Interestingly enough, I'm also a game designer. Well, at least a writer, but I'm probably not nearly as good at it as other people are.

Pretty much everything except Power Gamer. While planning how to handle a combat situation is fun the actual combat is a yawner.

Storyteller, I'd imagine, although I doubt that I'm out there on the fringes. The only thing I don't consider myself is a Power-gamer. I have Thinker and Character Actor moments, but am usually best in the Storytelling mode.

Neat article, and yeah, using the 8 core points as much as possible. :)

What category would fit "I like making funny voices"?

Seriously, though, I think I'm in the 12% "I like all the parts"-group.

I hesitate to say exactly what type of gamer I am. I'd really like to take the survey and then find out where I fall in the graph. But if I had to just guess, I'd say I'm somewhere in the area of Character Actor/Storyteller.

I've always loved playing different kinds of characters and, with the release of AU, have found a new love of world-creation and DMing. But, like someone said earlier, I think that Sean's "checklist" was the most important thing in that link. I'm definitely going to swipe that.

Can I be a thinking - story teller?

I don't need to be in the elusive, elite 12% but those two are both descriptive of me?
