Greetings!
Ummm...yeah, Med Stud my friend, *Russia* was founded by Swedish Vikings, who settled many areas in the Baltic, Muscovi, Novgorod, and Kiev. Much of this area was conquered by the Mongols, which was later liberated by Ivan The Terrible, arguably the father of the modern, unified Russian state.
Heretic! Good to see you around!
Indeed, I couldn't remember that it was the Visigoths and the Ostrogoths, no merely the "Goths". The eastern and western tribes of Goths, though, and each were somewhat distinct. The Visigoths, as you mentioned, swept into Spain and North Africa. Eventually, unfortunately for them, they were conquered and annihilated. The Ostrogoths, hmmm. They may have settled in Italy. Or maybe they absorbed with the Germans and the Franks. I can't remember right now. I know the Lombards--from modern day *Lombardy* settled in northern Italy, and forged a successful, stable kingdom that remained strong and contributed throughout the modern growth of Italy into the High Middle Ages and the Rennaissance through their descendants.
Thanks for the correction!
Semper Fidelis,
