D&D General What magic potion do you dump into the local water supply?

I mean, it might turn the entire village vegan or at least vegetarian, or make huge differences to what animals get eaten and why and when (probably meaning a lot fewer).

It would also probably cause a lot of animals to be able to make better accommodations for human behaviour and simple negotiations with humans, which would indeed likely make things wildly more efficient.

It's definitely one of the most interesting ones you could pour, so good choice! Also we would learn that cats love crime and live for crime and fully understand crime, and that most dogs are just as dim as we thought, which might influence perceptions somewhat.
I chose not to pour speak with plants because my father always said that one day someone will make a machine to hear the corn crying as it is reaped and then what will we eat.

Levitation, with the assumption that the potion requires enough build up to take effect, and that's unpredictable.
Gives a new meaning to "I'm pretty short. My legs barely reach the ground!"

Elixir of Health comes to mind as a decent choice as a water supply additive.
Nice! A village whose residents die only of accident or old age. Very old age. It could become quite the resort town.

Or, if you are evil and want the town to end itself - Potion of Mind Reading.
Reminds me of Mutant, by Henry Kuttner. You might have some who become benevolent semi-hive minded people fighting against the paranoids who only hear the negative thoughts.

The speak with animals one is pretty slick, too. Gaseous form would lead to a cursed village that no one goes to.

Levitation, with the assumption that the potion requires enough build up to take effect, and that's unpredictable. People spontaneously start floating, without precise control over their altitude. Over time, they acclimate, gain control, and a whole system of rooftop gardens and storage/industry has emerged, leading to nets and ropes being strung everywhere for horizontal movement. Long term exposure is causing the weight of everyone in the village to decrease, and some children have been born that seemingly can't touch the ground, repelling a limited distance above it at all times.
Or you could just pick off the whole village with ranged weapons and then you have your own pre-made base of operation

Universal Solvent. Everything you wash would be so clean.

Gaseous form
would probably terrify people. It would make a town full of gaseous people very mysterious - especially if they couldn't turn it off. That would make for an interesting adventure for PCs to solve.

Haste would make everyone way more efficient. Unless you get the aging version.
