What makes a Hero a Legend?

As a long time lurker, semi-poster (14 years! Wow the time flies) I’ve been curious how the site rankings work… village to explorer to adventurer to hero to legend. Is it based on post count? Reaction score? Something else? And at what rank are people allowed custom signatures, or is that a supporter feature?
Again, just curious how it works! Thanks!

While I am not an official source, this is my understanding!

First, I highly recommend becoming a community supporter. $5 a month. You feel good about yourself. You get a custom signature on your comments. And NO ADS! You can do this under the "account upgrades" section of your account.

Next, you can change the legend under your name (the "rank") just by going to your account details and entering a custom title. This is a free feature.

Finally, while the rankings and points no longer has an explainer that I can find, you can still see the various rankings here if you're curious:

IIRC, it's not longer "a thing," but points were based on a combination of milestones, such as reactions, posts, length of time you've been here, and other things (such as mod status).
