What monster type do you use / encounter the least?

Hands-down it's plant creatures. I do use twig blights on occasion, but there are just too few interesting plant critters. Most other critters can have a dungeon built around their general type, but it's really tough to do with plants just because there are so few of them.

Fey.

I'm not generally looking for party-hard types. Fey are just too whimsical for me and my players to take as a critical threat.

I think the only one I ever used that interested the group was an insane psion whom created illusions based on its own visions. Still goofy but at least we laughed.


Dragons should be my lowest but we enjoy them too much. Use more non- trad dragons though. 1/2 dragon or weaker cousins.

For me it is the Fey. Yes, I know they are a staple of real-world middle ages 'fantasy', but I have never wanted to ad hem to the game in a way taht makes them a real influence, so they tend to be jsut random monsters with little backstory.

If it were not for the ARcane Ooze, I wouldn't use oozes either. Arcane oozes are cool.

For me it's a toss up. I used to pretty much try and include all sorts of critters. Now, I am tending to use less. I am begining to prefer to use the baddest and most flexible monster of them all: man. I still like to use fey, dragons, outsiders and all of the rest but I prefer for them to be rare. Oozes thus would probably be some of the rarest of them all in my campaigns.

I love fey, undead, constructs, and oozes. I'd like to use more plant creatures, but there is a dearth in that category. For some reason, giants are my least used category.

Fey, mainly because the bulk of them are so incredibly low-CR, and I currently play and DM epic-level campaigns.

Fey, Since 3e came out I think the closest has been a statue of a nymph in a game.

I fought an advanced tendriculous in my last face to face game, and a treant druid a while ago. I used a plant demon in my campaign and have treant stuff that has not come up yet, and I used a shrieker in another campaign so plants get used more for me.
