What monsters types have been done to death?

Now that we've got several thousand official monsters, what monster types do you feel have been done to death (or undeath as the case may be)? Why?

Personally, I can never get enough outsiders. They almost always drip with flavor, fit easily into the game, are easy to advance, and pose a decent challenge to PCs.

Humanoids, on the other hand, have been so far done to death that a true ressurection couldn't bring 'em back, IMO. I think that D&D currently has as many humanoid races and subraces as their are unique species of mammals on Earth. Many of them are so similar that it hurts. I think at least 70% of them exist only to provide either a) a different animal head, b) a different good/bad ability score, or c) a different environment for another one.

Which would you like to see less of in future products?

None, as long as the monsters are creative and fit into the world somewwhere they are fine.
The problem with many monsters though is they feel like they are plug and play meaning they only exist so the players can kill them.

I like them all. I like being able to use a variety of stuff in my games. A balance of things. The PCs should expect anything.

None, I like all kinds of monsters.

However, it takes a really unique and interesting humanoid or humanoidish creature to really... errrm interest me nowadays. Maybe if someone statted up China Mieville's humanoid creatures or Steven Erikson's humanoids, I might be excited, but as it is, most humanoids are boring.

I love them all, HOWEVER...

I'd like to see more interesting CR 3 - 5 creatures. It feels like this is an area which I can't find anything really new and interesting to use, other than CR 2 critters with class levels. (Current favorite: Ogre Clerics and orclocks.)

I chose "All of them, I have all the monsters I'll ever need"...

But honestly, I've been saying that for years, and have been proven wrong on more than one occasion (I'm looking at you Denizens of Avadnu):)

I picked about 7 or 8 types (yea I think I was a litttle excessive too) I've seen enough coverage of. But I think humanoids, dragons and giants have been the most over done (in that order). I really don't need any more plants, oozes, undead, elementals, animals or vermin (no paticular order). Animals and vermin they cover well enough in the 3.5 MM. There are tons of undead. And while I love oozes there are enough of them too. The 4 types of elements and such have been rehashed enough. And I never really liked plants.
However if anyone can come up with creative new uses for any of the above types I don't mind seeing them.
