I'm very excited for The Broken Empires.
The last update saying that canons onboard ships don't work if they turn them against the coast, was really bizarre. I'm just gonna ignore that.

In the Broken Empires, the gunpowder that makes the navies of the Great Powers so threatening is known as “Devona’s Kiss”. It is said to be her gift to mankind—but one granted under unusual terms. The cannons that use it only function when pointed out to sea (and, as the sailor’s dark joke goes, only if the men who fire them are likely to die screaming in the doing). The moment a cannon is turned landward, the powder fails. Thus, island forts may be armed with cannon—so long as they face the waves. “The Edict”, as this restriction is known, is the same reason that no gunpowder weapons, such as muskets or flintlock pistols, exist in the Broken Empires.

I backed both Broken Empires and Astra Arcanum this year so I’m looking forward to receiving those quite a bit. Also will be jumping on WHFRP 5th. I really enjoy 4th so a cleaned up version is right up my alley.

Hardcopies of the Player and GM guides for Warhammer: The Old World RPG (different system than Warhammer FRP) are scheduled for release in 2026, but the PDFs are already available. Would that make the game a 2026 release? Or would PDF release in 2025 disqualify it? I can't remember the exact criteria.
I think the main criteria is when the general public can buy the book, , and if I get it right, pre-orders don't count (last year's nomination thread). So that would make The Old World a 2026 release.

And for the list:
  • Mongoose Publishing's Pioneer RPG should be out next year (Kickstarter)
  • Same goes for 2LM's Twilight Sword (Backerkit)
