What of Riddick

The whole "Riddick" setting is really cool, and a great backdrop for an RPG campaign.

I don't think it would be that difficult to do either. A system like Grim Tales, Spycraft, or even Mutants & Masterminds would be a good start. The biggest challenge would be having a firm grasp of the setting itself, rather than any specialized rules.

The only rules you would really have to create are for the pseudo-mystical powers of the Necromongers and Elementals.

Basic mechanics: M&M or d20 Modern/Future.
Tech: as above.
Races: Humans, elementals, necromongers, ??

SWSE might make a good base for it.

Seeing this thread, that's what immediately popped in my mind.

Maybe a few Iron Heroes bits and pieces thrown in for good measure, but that new SW editon seems like a good fit.

It's mostly Traveller d20 isn't it? Superpowered Space Opera?

Traveller D20 isn't all that superpowered. It can be Space Opera depending on the DM's style, but I've found it to usually be 'Mercs in Space'.

Traveller D20 is deadly so I would say that fits Riddick's universe along with how most parties turn into mercs or pirates at some point.

Grim Tales would work as well.

Thanks,
Rich

Star Wars Saga Edition can cover pretty much everything in Chronicles of Riddick/Pitch Black. Just fold the special powers of elementals and necromongers into The Force mechanics.

You know, as I recall, somebody was looking into licensing the Riddickverse a while back. For the life of me, though, I can't recall who or what the circumstances were (seeing as how we still don't have a Riddickverse RPG, though, I suspect that it fell through).
