I know that Atlas is publishing the old online Septentrionalis setting soon (they changed the name to something like "Northern Crown" or something). I'm not sure if it was entered in the WotC setting search, though.

Yes, correct on all counts, and for what it's worth, I did enter it in the WotC setting (what was I thinking?) Currently I'm "pencilled in" for a March release -- I'm sending the final revision of the manuscript to the editor next week, and I'm already working on the illustrations.

Congrats - I always enjoyed reading the free stuff that you had posted online. I'm sad it's not there anyway - I had saved a few of the files. I'm sure the CS will be great.

Excellent!

I still check your website from time to time to see if there is any new info-- glad to finally hear how things are progressing...

Once "Northern Crown" is out, can "Europa 1666" be far behind?

I would love to expand the campaign world of Northern Crown -- creating a fantasy colonial North America required me to sketch out the politics of a fantasy Europe, so the groundwork for such an expansion is already there. Many of the feats, weapons, armor, character classes, inventions, and magic in Northern Crown could be helpful to anyone running a strictly European campaign of the same vaguely-defined era (late 17th to early 19th century), just as the book can be used to run a Native Americans-only campaign with no Europeans at all.

Sorry that I haven't updated the web site in ages, so here's the basic info as it stands right now. The current plan for Northern Crown is to offer two 192-page softcovers (a player's book and a GM's book), sold separately. This plan evolved from a single 256-page hardcover, which would have been far too small for all the stuff we wanted to cram into it. The player's book will have over a dozen cultures, five new core classes, and perhaps as many as nine prestige classes to choose from. The GM's book is focused on creating and managing adventures, with an atlas, gazetteer, encounter tables, politics, rumors and legends, monsters, magic items, inventions, and stat blocks for some famous NPCs (from Franklin to Paul Bunyan!).

I know that Dawnforge was one, I play in a Dawnforge game. I can tell why WotC didn't pick this one, it just seems to be a powergaming D&D setting. Just wanted to know what others got published and by whom.

Valus by Different Worlds Publications.

also wasn't there a cthullu-type world that "almost" got picked? one that used taint and sanity points and all that listed in UA?

Hmmm. How many other people around here submitted something to WotC? Surely for the amount of people on ENWorld, there have to be some more who submitted something.

I would really like to know what kinds of ideas ended up getting submitted and what kinds of ideas ended up making the final cut to the last 100. Of course, we may never know as the last 100 may have signed confidentiality agreements.
