What products (if any) bring you the best city-related experience?

For me, it's probably the 2e City of Splendors box (especially when combined with Volo's Guide to Waterdeep, the City System box, and the 3e Waterdeep book).

But I've never had a long-running city campaign, as my players aren't as fond of city adventuring as they are of other things.

City State of the Invincible Overlord - My Judges Guild (second version with the single rulebook) and now the new Necromancer/JG versions are probably my favourite RPG purchases ever.

Sharn:City of Towers for Eberron - (1) innovative "vertical city" of fantasy skyscrapers; (2) over 100 districts within the city described and given individual personalities; (3) big city "feel" prehaps stronger than any other city product.

Incidentally, I was wondering:

Is Sharn the right city for me?

I was making up this city that, at this time, I only call the Jeweled city. It would be a magocracy (my prevailing theory on RPG settings is that many of them would be magocracies), and the Jeweled city would be a prominent airship tradeport, I it seemed like physically, Sharn would be perfect.

But some of the background details I am working with are going to take some tinkering. As is, major powers-that-be are, well, commoners. I guess I could demote them to functionaries and bureacrats, but it still seems there are a lot of little changes I am going to have to make.

My Top Three Best -

1st The original City State of the Invincible Overlord ("Red Edition") was amazing - (1) Great map (4 poster maps), (2) lots of detail in very little space (compared to "modern" city products); and (3) a "wahoo" elan that nearly perfectly captured the D&D "feel" of the time.

The new City State is not to shabby either. As far as d20 city books go, IMO it's probably the best I've read so far. And the Overlord, he's just cool.

Bluffside is a great one. I like the NPC's, lots of info for campaign seeds.

Waterdeep, if combined with the other related resources is just soo massive. An entire campaign can be run without ever leaving.

The original (1e AD&D) Lankhmar book.

Great book, great map, and FANTASTIC idea about handling the back alleys using geomorphs.

I loved that one.

And ditto that. :)

The City System for 2E was a pretty good.

More recently I've found both Hollowfaust and Shelzar: City of Sins from the Scarred Lands setting to be really well done.
