What should a skeleton/body cost? Say from a 6HD critter?

Well, to animate the corpse as a skeleton costs 150gp (onyx). To animate it as a zombie costs 300gp.

It's value depends on what the corpse can be used for.

Wow, what a meta-gamy question. Just what does a 6hd equine skeleton look like? How does this differ from say... a 10hd equine skeleton? :grumble:

Just outta curiousity, why would you need to know this? Animate Dead?

About as metagamey as buying magical items for a highish level game. Which i was doing for a 10th level cleric CN cleric of Tawil At Umr / Yog sothoth. A few dire wolf skeletons might have been useful speed bumps. That particular DM guestimated the cost to 200 gp each skeleton.

Sadly, i was the good guy of the party in comparison to the orc hirelings and cleric of Nerul

I also want opinions on how to base the selling market for my own game.

BOVD gave prices for SOULS at a palrty 200 to 250 GP a pop. A humaniod's bones go for a copper a bone by that book's low price points.

it would deepnd on the laws of the land I think. I'd say pretty pricey unless there are non necromancer things that can be done with full skeltons. I imagine it would have to be gotten on the black market and be a special order type of thing. People don't just keep full skeletons around unless you have musuems I imagine.

Pretend to be a 1st level commoner and hire yourself out to some adventurers to carry torches and lanters. After they kill an ogre or an owl-bear, when they arn't looking, grab it and run, or raise it on the spot! Can't beat that price. :D

ThirdWizard, you have got it seriously going on. :D

Most areas I would say there is not a real market for skeletons. Outside of common animals most things are not going to be commonly available. I think Hollowfaust, a city sourcebook for 3.0 Scarred Lands has some market prices for that city of LN necromancers where animation is common and the heart of the nation's armies and there is a thriving demand for creature skeletons.
