Why do you feel this is a problem, or that it needs solving? Are you under the impression that there's a faction of WotC employees desperate that nobody refer to their baby as "5E"?

It'll be referred to as 5E by us. It'll just be "D&D" to those not already playing it and who don't care about previous editions

Pretty much what you said. The impression I get from the way Mike Mearls has consistently said he just wants it called D&D is that he doesn't want an edition number used. I guess it's the lifecoach and problem-solver in me, but when I see someone say they want one thing and act in a manner counterproductive to attaining it, I want to give them some useful advice.

I don't really have a problem with it being called 5e myself.

The number that comes after 4 is typically 5. They're going to be kinda stuck with that, seeing as most of us learned that pretty early.

I'd say OnefifthE?! due to the price :erm:

Capcom took a while to learn to count past 2.

  • D&D'
  • D&D Championship edition
  • D&D Turbo
  • Super D&D
  • Super D&D Turbo
  • D&D Alpha
  • etc...

How can it be anything other than 5th Edition (5E). The last edition was 4th so to claim otherwise by WotC is a bit silly. Call it D&D but to everyone in the know it's 5E.
