What should you read - 2019 Holiday Edition

We have our monthly What Are You Reading thread, here I'd like something a little different. What have you read that's either new in the past few years or underappreciated that you think others should read. Basically I'm looking for suggestions we can all take to pad out those holiday gift lists when people say "what should we get you?".

I'll start, my absolutely favorite find of the past two years was N.K. Jemisin's Broken Earth trilogy. Starting with The Fifth Season, then The Obelisk Gate and The Stone Sky. Now, those were published 2015, 2016, 2017, I was just a bit late to the table. :)

So, what's your new favorites or lesser-known masterpieces?

It's pretty much impossible to go wrong with N.K. Jemisin.

My suggestions for newer (within the last three years) fantasy works:

Tucholke's Boneless Mercies
Winter's The Rage of Dragons
Cole's The Armored Saint
Emrys' Winter Tide

I haven't read it yet, but my wife has been raving about Holly Black's The Folk of Air series.

I'll go with Hollow Kingdom by Kira Jane Buxton. The elevator pitch: it is a zombie apocalypse novel, told form the point of view of a domesticated crow.
