That same blue dragon you are talking about was pretty dang rough.
I wound up casting multiple webs around in the courtyard (not anchored to anything to hold them up so they collapse) in order to get rid of the dust and debris floating around.
We ruled that it worked alot like taking a Swifter Dust Rag to the courtyard.
Shortly after that I was slammed unconcious by a annoyed dragon.
Feat wise check out the MM2 and Dragon magazine, also AEG has a book about Dragons that might help.
But if you want some evil ideas take a deadly shadow dragon or shadow dracolich, or shadow dragon with a template along with many of your ghouls as his minions and send them after your adventuring group.
I think the shadow dragons breath also heals and bolsters negative energy using creatures do in theory send your minions in to hack at the party with mass improved invisibilty (make this spell) and then start using your breath weapon on friends and foes. You wind up hurting your foes and healing your minions at the same time.
Do fly by attacks and stay mobile. Drop on weaker strength party members to do grapple damage then fly away again.
Dragons should use spell turning and haste and Vicid Discarge type spells to buff themselves up. There is a spell that allows a spellcaster to gain a feat from the fighters bonus feat list. I would use that spell and try and get multiple feats temporarily.
Take the surprise to your enemies, a dragon with Whirlwind Attack would make me run. Use element type spells that clash with what the dragon normally uses. Red Dragon casting a cone of cold that no party member buffed up protection from.
I don't see why a dragon couldn't have 2 levels of Rogue for evasion and sneak attack damage either. Booby trap your lair with lots of magical traps and stuff. The AEG book on Mercenaries has a couple of cool spells called Forceful Burst and Shrapnel these would help in lair defense.
