Divine Metamagic, dude.

At lvl 5 your choices are rather limited. You'll probably end up going with Divine Favor.

If you could swing it with your DM, Mass Lesser Vigor would be pretty funky, though. Fast Healing 1 for you and a friend.

Top three most broken combos in the game, dude.

Seriously, WOTC provided errata for all the other wonky combos like this (like the use of bardic music to charge metamagic, and some of the Incantatrix abilities) that you cannot increase the spell level to a level you couldn't ordinarily use. The fact that they overlooked accidentally this one doesn't suddenly make it okay for you to break your DMs game.

And since I am one of the very last people to accuse something of breaking a game if you follow my posts here over the years, you know I actually mean it when I say that I think this is broken.

We shouldn't HELP people break the game even more. You want your 5th level clerics casting 7th 8th and 9th level spells, go for it. But don't ask others to supply the gun, pull the trigger, and drive the getaway car for you.

And you provided the perfect example how extremely broken this is. Essentially regeneration for half the party (fast healing 1), for a single first level spell slot and some turn attempts, that lasts ALL DAY EVERY DAY? Come on...you KNOW that breaks the game.

If some player tried that on me as DM, I'd give all my creatures this combo. Try fighting an army of regenerating orcs and tell me how fair it is.

Broken or not, it is still rules legal, dude.

Unless you're his DM, I don't think you should be telling him how to enjoy his game, dude.

Because it's just a game, dude.

p.s. Check out the character optimization boards at the WoTC site. I'm sure they will welcome your opinions of game balance there.

I seem to recall that the various vigor spells have a maximum number of hp that they heal. If I'm correct on that, that limit still applies even if you make the spell last all day.

I'll have to check the exact wording on the spell.

The Vigor spells all have a max duration, so that can't be extended (or made persistent) any more that...

Actually, they did not provide errata for all such combos.

Metamagic Rods do this same thing.

Sudden Metamagic feats do this same thing.
