What spells would you use the Persistent Spell Feat on?

First Post
In Manual of the Planes, I thought of the following:

Analyze Portal
Elemental Body
Avoid Planar Effects
Ethereal Mount
Shadowfade

Analyze Portal, Elemental Body, and Avoid Planar Effects probably being the most useful.

What other spells would you use the Persistent Spell Feat on? I'm trying to decide if Persistent Spell feat is worth getting for a wizard.

Thanks!

The reason I'm asking is....

I ran into an issue with the persistent spell feat. I read the errata, and it says that spells with range of touch cannot be made persistent. There are a few player's handbook spell ranges (such as Find the Path, Foresight, Freedom of Movement, Invisibility, etc) that state range: personal and touch.

Shouldn't the following spells also have the personal ranges as well?

fly, displacement, improved invisibility, stoneskin, etc. These all say range touch only, but they are personal also (IMO).

Thanks,

- Kae.

Only spells that last for a few minutes should be made persistent, IMHO. any spell with an hour/level or longer gets far more boost out of Extend spell. Shield is the #1 choice of all.

Re: The reason I'm asking is....

Our party wizard finally got displacement to be persistent, and it wasn't at all what he expected.

I tell you, he was absolutely beside himself!

Other then Shield, I have a hard time even thinking 1 other that would be worth the feat. And if your group plays with some of the limiting errata for Shield, that really isn't worth it. :D

Our group concluded that Presistent Spell is broken because it was written with wizards in mind--but there's nothing to prevent clerics from using them and that's where it breaks down.

Clerics have a great number of spells that can they can use within the limitation of Persisten Spell to dramatically augment their combat effectiveness. Our cleric easily became the best fighter. Our characters are high level (around 15) so perhaps the feat makes more sense at mid levels, but at high levels anyway, it's a terribly obnoxious feat. I, alas, wasn't the one playing the cleric so I can't remember very well which spells were the favorites.

So, if you're a cleric, seriously look into Persistent Spell. You'll be glad you did!

The clerical spells you are likely thinking of are Divine Favor and Divine Power. These give you a fighter BAB, temporary hit points, an 18 strength, and a bonus to all attack and damage rolls. Not quite so abusive, but still quite nice, is a Persistent Bless or Prayer Spell (or the similar versions found in Defenders of the Faith). And, of course, as new spells are created, the opportunity for abuse increases, since the Persistent Spell feat is poorly balanced. Every new spell created with a fixed range or Personal range is immediately subject to possible abuse if it is a powerful spell whose power is controlled by a short duration.

Ah! You used the forbidden word broken!!!!! Don't you know that the first rule of EN World is to *never* use the forbidden word?

Oopsie. What's the proper word? "of doubtful contribution?" :)

After consultation with the aforementioned cleric, here were his favorites:

Detect Magic, Divine Favor, Divine Power, Divine Agility, Righteous Might all going at once. Pretty keen, but also, uh, of doubtful contribution.
