what superhero movie do you want to see?

Well, I'm a gamer and I can't see how KotD would make even a decent movie.;)

It would be good if they did it like that short movie "the gamers" where when they play it goes into the fantasy world with different actors playing the PC's, and cut back and forth, sort of like the princess bride movie cut back with the grandfather reading the story to the kid.

I'd like to see a movie based on the Dark Knight Returns story where Batman kicks Superman's ass.

The Watchman would be cool, but very very hard to pull off in a movie.

I think V is for Vendetta could be adapted to the silver screen much more easily, and they both explore some similar themes.

I'd also like to see an Electra movie starrign Jennifer Garner. I've got the perfect plotline. Electra wakes up one morning to find out that an evil mastermind has stolen all her clothes. She spends the next 3 hours trying to find them.

Outstanding, I wanna see that movie! :)

All these gamers and nobody wants a KoDT movie? I'm shocked. :P

I have a very good reason for you, the question was "What superhero movie do you want to see?" (my semi-hijack not withstanding) not "comic book movie do you want to see?" So it makes sense no one mentioned KoDT

So obviously your personal opinion on how good the movie was and the general publics opinion are quite different, and since these movies will be designed for general public appeal you should expect Super Hero movies to end up being more and more like Spiderman was in the future, that's obviously what the general public wants and likes. I'm sorry you didn't like it but it happens most people thought it was great, the numbers back that up.

Well, only time will truly tell. The "general public" tends to be fickle and superficial, and just because a movie is popular and a big money-maker, doesn't mean it will become a classic, or even worthy of a permanent position on your video shelf.

Remember, movies like "Grease" and "Porkey's" were VERY popular in their time, and they were BIG money-makers, but those examples are generally considered to be bad movies by discriminating viewers, nowadays.

What I would really like to see, though?
Doctor Strange
A huge modern/magical chaos. Weird Dali-esque dimensions. The Vishanti. The Master. Baron Mordu. Clea! Sweeping gestures, colorful spells, shouted incantations. Stephen intoning at the top of his lungs 'Nine Rings has Raggador, From Indigo to Deepest Black...'. Tibet. Wong! Bleeker Street. The funky window in his townhouse. The Eye! The Darkhold.
Awwww yeah.

Being a big Dr Strange fan, that would totally rock, especially if it starred Sam Niel, Nicholas Cage or Billy Zane. Then you can throw in a little martials action by adding Jet Lee as Wong

Another movie I would love to see would be Namor, minus the speedos, which could be played by Billy Zane as well

Edit after reading entire thread
A MoonKnight movie would be awesome, especially if they keep the supernatural element in it, but the general populace would be comparing it with BatMan

Black Widow, starring Asia Argento of XXX, would be a great movie as well. It's about time we see a female super hero on screen

Actually those two movies are both cult classics and Grease is still has quite a following. 80's movies seem to be making a comeback into coolness for some reason. Both of those movies spawned numerous spin offs, heck Porky's defined a genre of bad taste movies and to this day many movies follow basic path of raunchy goofiness and lowbrow humor for young males approach. Porkeys had a huge impact on the movie making industry (many would say for the worse :D ). I haven't heard a lot of people call Grease a bad movie, Grease 2 that's a different story.

My point was also for the near future, I don't care how Spiderman is viewed 20 years from now but for the next 5 to 10 it will be the measuring stick for Super Hero movies, just like the Batman movie was and just like the first Superman movie was, heck just like the 60's Batman movie was. The basic style of Super Hero movies will follow what is making money at the time until it stops making money, Spiderman 2 is in production and work has already started on a third Spiderman movie. It's what the general public likes right now, expect more of the same until it doesn't work anymore. Spiderman made $114.8 million in it's opening weekend, the vast majority of movies never make $100 million, you can't discount that as anything but a huge fan appeal, the movie enjoyed huge public support. It also did very well with the Video/DVD release, right now at this moment it is on a lot of video shelves, whether it stays there 10 years from now doesn't matter to what the industry is doing today. (Matrix knocked Spiderman off as the highest first day opening ever and it looks like it will break Spiderman's Weekend record too, expect a lot of Matrix clone movies in the future as well.)

My only real point to any of this at all was to point out that just because a person doesn't like a movie you shouldn't discount it's appeal to the masses or play it off as unimportant. I hate ET I loath the very mention of it but I do accept that it was (and is) a huge and influencial movie and I understand the widespread affect it had on the industry. I can't say ET was a "bad" movie just because I didn't like it, the overall weight of evidence is against my opinion.

News I read on Dark Horizons:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Punisher: Yesterday it was revealed that John Travolta has been cast as the lead villain Howard Saint whose described as "a man involved in the criminal underworld who has managed to conceal his violent beginnings and become a paragon of society until a darker, vengeful side emerges after his son is brutally slain". Today, Marvel head honcho Avi Arad talked with MTV about the role - "We didn't want to do a cliché villain. We are going for a dignified businessman [who is] cold but almost charming. And we are going to see his world fall apart like he made Frank's world fall apart. ... There is a lot of pain to what happens to Saint in this movie. And we needed an actor who can carry a real emotional journey". Arad also revealed that they'll heavily use Garth Ennis' acclaimed 'Welcome Back Frank' storyline - "It's great characters. It's going to be obviously a hard movie, but there were also great scenes [in the comics] that were almost funny...We'd like to take the Punisher saga and turn it into a real interesting film about emotions, about punishment, and deal both with the hero and the villain evenhandedly as people first and see what happens when the shoe is on the other foot. And you really need great actors to pull it off". Shooting is set to soon take place in Tampa Bay, Florida from July whilst a teaser poster is now online. Arad is keeping busy with "The Hulk" and seven upcoming Marvel film adaptations including "Iron Fist," "Iron Man," "The Fantastic Four," "Werewolf by Night," "The Sub-Mariner", "Elektra" & "The Amazing Spider-Man".
