What the locals know

Everywhere there are some things only the locals really know. Share with your fellow ENworlders some of your city/state/nations secrets!

For Example:

Alabama State Troopers are a bit like Sith, in the sense that there are always two. If you see one with someone pulled over, thats the worse possible time to speed up.

More just a local urban legend, I guess, but every teen "knew" this where I came from...

Somewhere in the Cincinnati area is a town made up entirely of little people, complete with houses that are appropriately scaled to the residents. Although everyone allegedly knew someone who had been there, no one actually knows exactly where it is - however, I do remember a couple of people saying they had been taken there once but were too drunk to remember where it was . Some details vary - according to some versions, little people will come out of their houses and pelt your car with rocks if a normal sized person drives through the neighborhood.

Heh - Tiny Town's existence was pretty much gospel fact back in the day. Honestly, I haven't thought of it in years until this thread - and, it turns, out, 20 seconds of Googling turned up the truth of the matter just now. Oh, if only the internet was around to make me and my friends less stupid back in the day!
Tiny Town

If you saw the movie Funny Farm with Chevy Chase you know Vermont's local "secrets". To most it is quaint , old fashioned and peaceful but in truth it is cynical and distrustful of outsiders.

And for another (ulp true- ) thing, the movie Super Troopers was based in part on Vermont's State Police.

What we lack in size we make up with attitude and character.
