what to do about scrying?

Yeah, but I think he meant spells that would work from the scryee to the scryer, not the other direction. I.e. spells that could be used to defend against someone scrying you.

E.g. A scries on B, B notices it, and retaliates with, say, Eyebite.

Except the gaze is not being met by the eye, it's filtered through a magical effect and is seen on a mirror (or a pool of standing water or whatnot).

There's no direct connection.

Well, if we reformat the sentence slightly (in the absence of context to do it for us) :

"The character is subject to any gaze attack met by the eye."

There's no direct connection, but the person using the arcane eye can be petrified if they use it to look at a basilisk.

-Hyp.

Wasn't Medusa killed with the faculty of a mirror?
I'm probably just getting this from some old B movie, but I remember a guy using a mirror like shield to look at medusa and throw a spear or something at her
Thus perhaps not all gaze attacks are useful unless they are directly seen?

Although style wise, I love the idea of keeping a caged basilisk around with you in order to trick the scryer and would certainly encourage any attempt by a player to do anything that creative.

EDIT - whoops! I understand now; reach *back* through the sensor. Doh. I'd say all visual spells, the same sorts of things that can be used through a wall of force. We know petrification from a medusa works that way, so I'd guess eyebite would as well.

and there PC was, making fun of me...

sorry, it seems that i didn't phrase the question well. i had read the spell description...

if you can hear (and you can) then maybe sonic attacks would too...
