What to do with a captured Ogre??

The beast is in the hands of the local authorities (who I have decided, will suggest freeing the Ogre and having the PCs attempt to track him. No PCs with Track though, so that could be tough or call for an NPC).

Any other advice is always welcome

Sounds like a job for a Commoner1 with Handle Animal and a hound! (Assuming you can get the dog to follow the Ogre, and not run the other way. They must has some dogs trained to follow humanoid scent...)
