What to do with Spontaneous Casters

I would recommend that spontaneous casters do not get their spells automatically either. So how do they get there spells? Here's a couple ideas.

1. They have to research them or learn them from scrolls, just as Wizards do.

2. They have to "discover" their spells. Make them make a caster level check (DC 10 + 2x spell level) to cast a spell intuitively for the first time. If they fail, they lose the spell slot, or if you want to be more dramatic, maybe the spell only partially goes off, or goes awry. After they succeed on this check, they can cast the spell from then on normally. I picture spontaneous casters learning new spells in stressful situations, where the need of the moment forces their power to the surface. The challenge for them is learning to master this innate power.
