For some reason, I love playing Monks in one-shots. I just can't get behind the class for a full campaign, but for a one-shot I love me some funky monk action.

I'd like to do something with psionics, particularly the Psychic Warrior.

Most of the time, I'm pretty cool with the basics tho.

I like trying new things with 1-shots. I also agree you need to make the information accessible and easy to understand. My last one-shot was a Northern Crown game, and I listed out all the special abilites and feats so the players wouldn't have to reference the book. I also separated the eats into active and passive sections. I pre-figured in the bonuses for the passive stuff, so I didn'tlist out what they did.

In general, I'm willing to play just about anything for a one-shot.

Just make sure you give full descriptions of abilities for non-standard classes or races in the character sheet. Do not count on the player knowing the class at all.

...it would depend on the world the game is set in, the (generalized) nature of the adventure being presented, who else is in the game, what they might or might not be playing, whether the noncore classes are drawn only from WotC books or not, etc.

Other (WotC or non-WotC).

First off, I like a lot of the new base classes better than the PHB classes; the warlock is a particularly well-done class.

Second, I like to try new things, and a one-shot gives me the opportunity to do so.

Third, the warlock at least is *much* easier to learn for a new player than a traditional spellcaster, so if you expect new or inexperienced players to show up, it's a good choice.

Adventure is non-world specific.
The adventures are looking for an artifact in an abandoned dwarven keep.
The characters will be a mix of combat and spellcasters.
WOTC classes only.

You could offer more character choices than you have seats. That way you could do 5 PHB classes/5 non-PHB. Try to cover the roles evenly. Then the players can choose the class they are most comfortable playing.

Non-PHB, but anything non-core should have it on the character sheet.

This is easier with third party, alas. I am planning on using some third party material in my D20 mars game, but I'll put feat and class ability material on the sheets.
