What was the fate of Obould Many-Arrows?

Actually, he RAS reveals that he enters a gate to Earth and becomes the new baritone in the Temptations' reunion.

Obould got the "Many Arrows" sobriquet after some orc attack against some citadel in The North (Forgotten Realms), and there were lots and lots and lots and lots of arrows in that battle. Obould won.

Obould Many-Arrow'd

I'd like to think he ends up a pincushion, only with arrows instead of pins. That would be deliciously ironic.

I remember being very frustrated at the end of the last book. There just didn't seem to be any resolution. This could have been the perfect time to bring an end to Drizzt's legend; faced with an invincible foe, the amazing drow finally meets his match. But no.

I really don't remember a whole lot from the books. I do recall the introduction of a female elf, which seemed a potential mate for Drizzt. And there was also Wulfar's woman being edited out as too complicated...er, I mean, possessed by a sword and getting killed.

RAS has yet to reveal that Drizzt's encounter with Obould was nothing more than a dream. In the next Drizzt novel, the drow will awaken with a start, shake off the ridiculous dream he just had, realize that he still has to hunt down Obould to avenge the supposed deaths of his friends, and continue his stalk. THEN we will have the real resolution between Drizzt and Obould, where the drow embarasses the orc king in a fashion befitting not only Drizzt's superior stats in the FRCS, but also befitting his past encounters in the novels.

:p

This was my biggest problem with that third novel. Drizzt all in a maddened state and basically walks away when he learns that Obould is still alive. It was like he came down off a high or something. "Well, yeah, I kicked his ass but if I killed him, then I coudln't milk the angst for another book!"

The absurd imbalance in their write-ups can only be modeled by the prizefight, "Tomato v Blender". Driz'zt has what, 8 levels on him?

And it's not as if Obould, though posessing a neat moniker, is terribly powerful: characters of his level grow on trees in FR.

Yeah, there is definitely a "Chosen of Gruumsh" template added to him plus some levels (possible orc warlord or just more fighter levels). Plus, his equipment gets some serious upgrades during the course of the novels. I believe his armor is at least +2 heavy fortification adamantine full-plate, plus he get's some other doodads from orc shamans of other tribes.

The printed stats are a little out of date. By the time the novel occurs, Obould has become a templated creature. He's got the "Plot Critical" template, which grants him the (Ex) ability to escape from any combat. (For other examples of this template, see Artemis effing Entreri. He fought Drizzt what, eighty times? Always survived, even though he never won.)
